Six Components of a Wellness Lifestyle 

    Medical Health

    Traditional medicine in the United States focuses on recovery from illness and disease. A holistic approach to health focuses more on why you may be sick – what elements in your lifestyle can make you prone to disease or can prevent your full recovery.  

    In western medical traditions, we go to the doctor when we’re sick. Doctors actually get paid when their patients are sick. In eastern and Chinese medical traditions, most medicine is preventative. Doctors are paid to help their patients stay healthy.  

    We can help you learn to spend your money on health care rather than on sick care. 

    Holistic Nutrition

    We are all aware that our diet affects our health, but you may not be as familiar with specific plans for eating well, combining foods, healthy shopping, and using supplements to fine tune your nutritional balance.  

    We are eating ourselves to death! More people in the U. S. die from dietary related illnesses each year than from war, accidents, and homicides combined! 

    We can help you learn to cook and eat natural whole foods that promote health and wellbeing. 

    Functional Fitness

    Exercise releases endorphins that make you feel good. That in itself is reason enough to develop a regular exercise habit. But in addition to the endorphins, exercise can help you look good, gives you more strength and energy, and slows the aging process.

    Weight Management

    Most people try to lose weight by exercising more and eating less. These are great steps, but there may be other pieces of your wellness puzzle that will prevent you from losing weight unless they are corrected first.  

    Toxins in our body are stored in fat cells. Dieting can temporarily shrink the fat cells but the toxins prevent them from going away completely. Until you get rid of the stored toxins, you’ll always struggle with excess body fat. 

    We can help you see how different elements in your lifestyle – besides what you eat and drink – may be affecting your weight. 

    Stress Management

    Stress can play a role in disturbing your sleep, reducing  your productivity, and hurting your relationships with the people you love. On top of all that, it is one of the things that may contribute to overweight for many people. 

    As many as 80% of North Americans suffer from stress-related health conditions. Autoimmune problems, fibromyalgia, depression, frequent infections, and many other common ailments are caused or aggravated by stress. 

    Note: Exercise is great for us, but it is also a type of stress. If stress is a major issue in your life, you may need to manage the stress before you will be able to benefit from adding exercise into your routine.

    Wellness Home

    Many of the products you use daily – for cooking, for personal hygiene, and even for aesthetics – may actually be harmful to you. The air in your home, the water in your pipes, even the materials your house is built from may be preventing true wellness for you and your family.

    We actually absorb more water pollutants through our skin during a shower than we do through our stomachs when we drink. This means it may be more beneficial to have pure shower water in our homes than pure drinking water. 

    We help our clients create a healthy, stress-free environment at home that can prevent sickness and will promote health and wellness. We offer personalized sessions to empower you to make necessary changes in your life.

    Personal Wellness Programs
     

    At Broader Concepts our goal is to help you make changes that will increase your wellness and improve the quality of your life. We offer a variety of services to help you develop a Personal Wellness Plan. We can help you focus on specific areas of wellness that are critical in your life at this time. We can provide information, we can evaluate your current lifestyle, and we can make targeted suggestions for changing your wellness habits and patterns. We can also offer ongoing support and encouragement as you work through this challenging and exciting process. 

    The first step in learning how to live a healthier life is our Initial Wellness Consultation. During this consultation we learn about your current lifestyle and we help you identify your most vulnerable areas and most critical needs. 

    Depending on your goals and level of commitment, you can then choose one or more of our Wellness Programs. You can: 

      • develop a Wellness Action Plan
      • begin a Fitness or Nutrition Program
      • work on a Wellness Home Package
      • create an individualized Wellness Package to suit your needs
      • sign up for personalized Wellness Consulting on an ongoing basis

    We also offer a variety of ‘A la Carte Services’ to help you meet your individual wellness goals and your goals for your family.


    Wellness Action Plan
     


    After the initial consultation, we will develop a Wellness Action Plan for you with personalized recommendations in each of the six areas of wellness. We will meet with you to discuss your plan and to help you start working on at least three specific goals from your plan.  

    Family Wellness Plan 

    The greatest gift a parent can give their child is to teach them how to lead healthy and productive lives. By helping your children develop habits of wellness early, you can influence their health, happiness, and success throughout their lives. 

    Fitness Program
     

    Our fitness programs help you develop a traditional exercise practice – cardiovascular training, weight training, core training, and flexibility. We also work with you on Controlled Fatigue Training, which trains the body to resist fatigue and improves your overall performance in strength, speed, velocity, and sustained power. 

    Nutrition Program
     

    Our holistic nutrition program will help you and your family learn to cook and enjoy foods that nourish your body and contribute to overall wellness. We can also help you focus on proper nutrition for maximum weight loss. Once you reach your weight loss goal, we will help you design a maintenance program to ensure your continued success. 

    Wellness Home Package
     

    We offer three Wellness Home Packages. Our Platinum Package helps you evaluate your kitchen setup, cleaning products, hygiene products, and the water and air in your home. We will help you find ways to enhance your sleeping environment and the lighting, sounds, and smells throughout your home. Our Wellness Home Packages help you optimize your home for stress-free living. 

    Individualized Wellness Packages
     

    If you have a specific health concern that is not addressed by our standard packages, we will customize a package for you. 

    Personal Wellness Consulting 

    You can have ongoing coaching – support, advice, and feedback – whenever you need it. Our personal wellness consulting means that help is just a phone call or email away as you work through the changes and adjustments toward a healthier lifestyle of true wellness.
